Le attività del progetto AMPPA finanziate da Interreg V-A Italia Malta non si fermano. È stata realizzata una campagna di pesca sperimentale che ha coinvolto alcuni operatori della pesca artigianale delle Isole Egadi, che hanno utilizzato una rete da posta fissa modificata con l’obiettivo di verificare l’efficacia nel ridurre l’impatto sul fondale marino e habitat sensibili e sulle specie marine non di interesse e oggetto di cattura accidentale,
mantenendo un buon risultato in termini di pescato commerciale, stabilendo così un importante equilibrio tra tutela dell’ambiente ed economia locale.
LA SPERIMENTAZIONE:
Al tremaglio, rete da posta fatta da 3 strati di rete a maglie diverse allo scopo di imbrigliare le specie al passaggio, è stata aggiunta una fascia di rete monofilo (un solo tipo di rete che cattura per imbrocco) sulla parte inferiore, con apertura di maglia molto ampia, che quindi ha l’obiettivo di esercitare meno pressione sull’ecosistema, adagiandosi e catturando meno esemplari di organismi non bersaglio di pesca.
Sono state eseguite prove di pesca confrontando le rese di pesca degli attrezzi tradizionali e di quelli modificati, attraverso l’esecuzione di verifiche della composizione quali-quantitativa del pescato e rilevazioni biometriche sulle catture di ciascuno.

The activities of the AMPPA project financed by Interreg V-A Italia Malta still go on. An experimental fishing campaign was carried out involving some artisanal fishing operators from the Egadi Islands. They used a modified fixed gill net with the aim of verifying its effectiveness in reducing the impact on:
– seabed and sensitive habitats
– marine species not of interest and subject to accidental capture
maintaining a good result in terms of commercial catches but also establishing and important balance between environmental protection and local economy.
THE EXPERIMENT:
To the trembling net, a gill net made of 3 layers of net with different meshes for the purpose of harnessing the passing species, a band of monofilament net has been added (only one type of net that captures by gillnet) on the lower part, with an opening of very large mesh, which therefore has the objective of exerting less pressure on the ecosystem, settling down and capturing fewer specimens of organisms not targeted by fishing.
Fishing tests were carried out comparing the fishing yields of traditional and modified gear, by carrying out checks on the qualitative and quantitative composition of the catch and biometric surveys on the catches of each.
